Thursday-Friday September 28-29

We will be in the library doing a T-chart on Walter James Miller's essay "The Future of Frankenstein."  This is due MONDAY OCTOBER 2nd.

Once/if you finish the Miller T-chart, work on one (or both, if you're behind) of your poems--the Beowulf/Grendel rap battle, and the 1-page Romantic poem.  Please have both of these done by Monday the 2nd if you have not already done so!!

MONDAY OCTOBER 2nd: "FRANKENSTEIN" begins!

Monday October 16th: We have finished Chapter 11 of "Frankenstein"--what themes are you noticing?  How is the Creature's reactions to the world similar in some ways to Adam's in Eden, and how is he demonstrating the idea of the "blank slate"?  Are you getting some good ideas for the double-sided theme chart?  Have you chosen a partner for the scary story competition (last week of October), and do you have a story idea or two in mind?  Is your booklet caught up?

Monday October 30th: 6th period is in the computer lab all this week to start work on their collaborative scary stories; after finishing "Young Frankenstein" on Monday, 4th period will be doing the same.  Have you turned in your booklet and your theme chart yet?  300 points right there!!

Thursday November 2nd: Your scary stories are DUE NEXT MONDAY (the 6th).  We will then be starting a Work Sample unit for a week--even if you have your work samples tied off, this is still considered a graded essay for the class!  Be ready to start writing WEDNESDAY NOVEMBER 8TH and finish (if necessary) the following Monday (the 13th).
